SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION (SEO)

If your current website is not producing satisfactory results in terms of enquiries it could be as a result of failure to correctly optimise the pages and/or to submit the data to search engines.

ITLogic has many years experience of optimizing client websites - we do not build a website that does not include basic optimization, and as a result, our clients' websites are valuable marketing assets, which produce results!

According to the Netcraft September 2018 Web Server Survey there are 1,642,339,233 (over 1.6 billion) websites. Most of those websites get almost no visitors!

We know that the Internet is dominated by a relatively small number of very large websites. To quote the survey, "Despite there being over 1.6 billion websites only a few hundred dominate the Internet. Less than 1 million, or 0.1%, account for over 50% of web traffic." These websites are largely those owned by major corporate entities which have been developed at great cost.Such development costs are not an option for most website owners and not even for the majority of companies!

It can be seen that simply in terms of sheer numbers there is enormous online competition for traffic in every sector of human and business activity. This competition is a natural consequence of the vast scope of websites and information available but also because many companies do take proactive steps to ensure valuable traffic to their site.

Valuable traffic is that traffic composed of persons who in fact are actively seeking the type of offerings presented by your company. Often they seek only in a limited and localised geographical location. It is possible to attract worthless traffic - people who will never buy anything - by incorrect and unskilled application of SEO!

These proactive steps to attract traffic almost always include a process of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) which aims at enhancing the ranking position of the website in search engine results against searches using 'targeted' keywords. Targeted keywords are words and phrases which are relevant to whatever products or services are offered at the website and which are in use frequently by searchers. By achieving a high-ranking position there is a higher likelihood of a searcher seeing your website listing within the search results delivered to him as your result will no longer be at a low-ranking position where it is only visible after clicking through many pages of results. In turn therefore the likelhood of a 'cickthru' by a user to your website is greatly enhanced, thus the first step towards that user actually doing business with your company is achieved.

As mentioned SEO is not an event but a process. Initial actions after an in-depth survey of the website in question may include modifications to various elements including the page-coding to bring the coding into compliance with the requirements of search engines - to make the site 'search-engine friendly'.

Beyond that a monitoring and adjustment phase is required. Since changes to code or content take some time to register with search engines and therefore for results of those changes to be measured in terms of ranking position, frequent monitoring is undertaken. In line with best practice and methodology, once a successful result of one change is observed, then the next step towards further improvement can be taken.

Ultimately a non-performing or under-performing website can be very significantly improved to produce bottom-line results by way of enhanced information delivery to more users leading to increased sales enquiries.
